Filipino Insurance F.A.Q
Find answers to common questions about Singapore insurance solutions for Filipinos.
Am I eligible for any Singapore insurance plans as a Filipino?
Possibly. Singapore PRs usually have broader access to resident insurance and healthcare pathways. Work pass holders may be able to buy selected cash-payable life, critical illness, and medical plans. Dependent pass or student pass holders may qualify for selected options but may not have access to CPF-linked products. Short-term visitors and non-residents may be limited to selected life or international medical plans, sometimes with extra documentation or in-person requirements.
Do Filipinos need to be in Singapore to apply?
Some applications may be completed remotely, but others may require Singapore-based signing, verification, medical examination, or face-to-face completion. We will clarify the likely application route before you proceed.
Can my family in the Philippines be protected?
Insurance proceeds can often be planned for family protection, but beneficiary nomination, claim documentation, payout currency, and legal considerations should be reviewed carefully. Product terms and insurer requirements apply.
Can I pay premiums from outside Singapore?
Depending on the insurer and product, payment may be possible through credit card, GIRO, bank transfer, or telegraphic transfer. Some arrangements may require a Singapore bank account or additional documentation.
Will pre-existing conditions be covered?
Pre-existing conditions must be declared and may lead to exclusions, loading, postponement, or decline. Certain medical plans may have specific waiting periods or underwriting rules.
Are Filipinos covered by MediShield Life in Singapore?
MediShield Life is for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents. Filipinos who are not Singapore PRs should not assume they have MediShield Life coverage and may need employer, private, or international medical insurance depending on their situation.
How do I apply and get advice?
Submit the form with your residency status, nationality, current location, pass type, preferred coverage, health considerations, and budget. An authorised representative will review your profile, clarify your needs, compare suitable options, and explain whether the next step is online submission, document collection, medical underwriting, or face-to-face completion.
